Graduation checklist

Congratulations on completing your journey at UBC’s Okanagan campus! Below is some information to help you complete the final steps and make it through your graduation ceremonies.

Every candidate for a degree must make a formal application for graduation. Applications will be open in early January and close February 28. See the Student Services website for important application information, dates, and deadlines.

For questions regarding your graduation application, please contact gradapps.okanagan@ubc.ca

This is the order in which you’ll cross the stage at the ceremony. Make sure you know your number before you check in for your ceremony.

Procession numbers will be assigned and will be available on your Graduation Application when confirmed.

All graduates attending Convocation are required to wear academic regalia.

Academic regalia includes a gown, hood and headwear appropriate to the degree being
granted. Any form of attire (formal, uniform, business, traditional, or casual) may be worn
underneath the gown and hood. Footwear must always be worn.

Visit our gown rental page for dates, deadlines, regalia rental details and guidelines.

Checkout our Instagram account for graduation coverage leading up to and during graduation. Tag us @ubcokanagan to be featured!

Although we do not issue tickets for guest seating, students must submit RSVPs for their guests. We kindly require that graduating students restrict their guests to no more than four. This courtesy will ensure that all graduates may have some guests in attendance.

If a ceremony is over capacity, guests will be directed to nearby buildings to watch the webcast on digital screens.

Information for guests attending the ceremonies is available on the Guests page. This page provides details on campus accommodations, accessibility, guest code of conduct, and more.

In preparation for your ceremony, please visit our ceremony info page to determine where you can pick up your regalia and where you will be lining up. We do not provide secure storage, so please leave any personal belongings with your guests and only bring what you can keep on your person during the ceremonies.

Watch our video on how to pin your regalia and securely attach your hood to your gown before joining the procession.

This is a special day for you, your friends, and your family. Make the most of it and enjoy the day! Once again, congratulations on graduating from UBC’s Okanagan campus.
