Rent before the deadline
$75 in credit or debit (online)
The deadline for online rentals is May 15, 2026. Rent your hood and gown online in advance of your ceremonies through the UBC Bookstore.
Missed the deadline?
$105 in cash, debit or credit
If you’ve missed the deadline to reserve regalia in advance, please arrive at the Administration Building 90 minutes before your ceremony start time. We will get you fitted and ready.
How to pin your hood
Students must fasten their hoods before joining the procession. In this video, Holly and Kara show you how to securely attach your hood to your grad gown.
Where do I return my regalia?
After your ceremony is over, please return your gown at the designated tent in the courtyard. Mortarboard caps are yours to keep as a souvenir.
Take photos in your regalia for up to an hour after the end of your ceremony.

Regalia guidelines for students
Students must follow the Student Academic Regalia guidelines in order to cross the convocation stage.

Indigenous student regalia
Indigenous students may wear their traditional regalia in place of the academic gown and hat, but they must have the hood, the colour and style of which acknowledges the academic degree they have earned.
